Sensoria are pleased to co-present this Special Screening of The Death of Robin Hood, introduced by and followed by a live performance from Sheffield musician Jim Ghedi.
Sheffield-based composer and artist Jim Ghedi crafts a new folk cannon with his epic The Death of Robin Hood Original Soundtrack.
Droning harmoniums and hurdy gurdy lay a thick bed of sound for soaring fiddle melodies, with Ghedi’s signature wailing vocal occasionally floating on top in this wholly unique approach to film score. Standout track “Twa Corbies” feels like both a call to battle and a painful lament, illustrating Robin Hood’s attempts to grapple with his past after a life of crime and murder.
Ghedi is a composer and artist pushing the bounds of folk music. His fresh approach to traditional folk music made him the ideal pairing for director Michael Sarnoski’s dark reimagining of the classic tale of Robin Hood.

In an endlessly busy world, we can boost well-being by seeking out the tranquil spaces that only nature can provide.
Carpet of Blue is a short film by Sam Wichelow capturing Ecclesall Woods during bluebell season.
Liz Hanks has created a specially written soundtrack underscoring Wichelow’s film to showcase one of the most colourful yet fleeting displays in nature’s calendar.
Friday 15 May sees 2 screenings with live cello accompaniment from Liz Hanks at 4.30pm [SOLD OUT] and 6.30pm [SOLD OUT].
On Saturday 16 May we will show the film with a recorded soundtrack of Liz Hanks’ music.
The film installation on Saturday is FREE to enter, you can just drop in at any time between 10.15am – 3.30pm
There is a Flower Crown Workshop at 1.15pm [SOLD OUT] and we’re delighted that The Midsommars will give a performance at 3pm (FREE but limited capacity) to close the Carpet of Blue weekend.
Bloom Sheffield are hosting a Flower Crown Workshop on Saturday 16 May from 1.15 – 3pm [SOLD OUT]
We’re presenting this activity during bluebell season so that you can have a wander in the woods and then sit and watch the film at your leisure.

SENSORIA presents The Sabres of Paradise at FORGE Warehouse.
Spawned in the era of warehouse raves, the seminal band The Sabres of Paradise, along with the likes of the Chemical Brothers, Underworld and Leftfield were lauded as pioneers of a new wave of dance/electronica taking over the clubs and eventually the airwaves. Originally a studio partnership of Andrew Weatherall, Jagz Kooner and Gary Burns, The Sabres of Paradise were prolific in working with and remixing the artists of the day, including Bjork, Leftfield and New Order, before signing to the iconic Warp Records to concentrate on their own sound. In preparation for the 2025 version of the live shows, the band has gone back to the original files, tracks recorded on Akai samplers and now defunct multitrack Hi-8 systems, bringing them up to date with the latest tech; rebuilding every track to make sure it is as close to the originals as possible.

Stephen ‘Mal’ Mallinder and Chris Watson will mark 50 years of CABARET VOLTAIRE live with an exclusive performance at FORGE Warehouse in Sheffield for SENSORIA Festival.
The event marks 50 years since the late Richard H Kirk, Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson performed as Cabaret Voltaire at the Sheffield Students Union Refectory on 13 May 1975. The performance, which was greeted with violence by some factions in the audience, is the catalyst for the event in October to celebrate Cabaret Voltaire, one of Britain’s most influential and pioneering electronic bands. In the current climate of social turmoil and political manipulation, the work of Cabaret Voltaire continues to be prescient and necessary. The sounds, words, images and films of the band resonate loudly, continuing to challenge the status quo. Original members Chris Watson and Stephen Mallinder are committed to stay true to the enduring vision of Cabaret Voltaire. The performance will cover the arc of their formidable output – from early experiments, and the first Rough Trade / Factory releases, through the band’s Doublevision video label and into the work with renowned producers such as Adrian Sherwood and Marshall Jefferson. Stephen Mallinder explains, “The live set is built from scratch but faithful to the original tracks. Everything has been painstakingly reconstructed with the original technology and processes to build the tracks. But as with all Cabs live shows there is an element of the unpredictable, the new. Chance meets causality.” Chris Watson goes on to say, “I’m delighted and totally thrilled to make a contribution to the band’s 50th anniversary. To share a stage once more with Mal and to honour Richard’s legacy will be a unique privilege, whilst remembering that in current times, such as then, the Dadaist interventions of Cabaret Voltaire remain essential.”

Join Concerteenies for the NEW musical story of ‘The Big Dreaming’, for children aged 3-7 and their families.

‘The Cold is coming, and it’s time for Big Bear and Little Bear to get ready for the Big Sleep: for bears sleep all winter long, and wake up in the spring. But Little Bear is worried. What if they run out of dreams during the Big Sleep?’
Pianist Annabelle Lawson and narrator Polly Ives perform new music composed by award-winning Paul Rissmann, based on Michael Rosen and Daniel Egnéus’s book. Victor Craven has designed stunning digital animations to bring the story to life. You can join in with songs, actions and makaton signs or just listen and daydream!
COSY CONCERT! This is a relaxed, friendly and family-focused concert.
GET CREATIVE between the concerts, meet the composer Paul Rissmann and digital animator Victor Craven and find out how they make the magic happen! You can make your own dreamcatcher inspired by the story with the Concerteenies Creative Practitioners.

The explosive story of an artist who challenged boundaries and pushed to the most extreme edges of creativity. For decades from the 1960’s Burwell was at the forefront of avant-garde music and art in the UK, eventually abandoning London for a new tribe in the post- industrial north.
In the late 1960s Burwell began working with musician and writer David Toop (later a member of The Flying Lizards). Burwell also became a founding member of the London Musicians’ Collective, and through the 1980s, worked closely with artists Richard Wilson and Anne Bean as a member of the Bow Gamelan Ensemble who travelled the world creating huge pyrotechnic, percussive performances using sculptural instruments made from junk.
Burwell refused to take the easy route through life, seeking out spaces where he could give rein to his often wild and self-destructive nature.

A session looking at the opportunities for musicians around Micro-Sync licensing (including online and social media platforms from TikTok to YouTube). We’ll explore how to make the most of micro for your music.
Guest speakers include Chi Chi Nwakodo (independent music supervisor) and Calum Price (MassiveMusic/Songtradr). Joining them will be Dean Honer and Jarrod Gosling from I Monster whose song “Who Is She?” became a viral trend on TikTok, leading to over 45 million streams and renewed recognition for the band.

We will be hosting a series of Roundtables throughout the day covering a range of hot topics, including talent development, social media tips & funding information.
Composer Assistant & Mentoring Programme Roundtable: C.A.M.P is a mentoring programme launched in 2022 from the UK office of composer talent agency First Artists Management (FAM), creating opportunities for young people to break into the music for screen business, with a focus on underrepresented groups.
