Music and visuals made with some of Accra’s most talented artists. Created by SCAPA, a Ghanaian-British musician, Nsebe is the inception of an exciting new Afro-Electro genre.
Live performances from members of the Nsebe collective presented through a 12-speaker spatial 7.1.4 audio system with projected visuals.

Unfortunately, the lift to SADACCA’s main hall is currently out of order.
There is a staircase to the main hall and the venue is unlikely to be suitable for those with limited mobility.
The venue is working hard to fix this and fundraising to do so; we will announce if there is any change in circumstances.

Details
Polyhymns takes you on a journey from Sheffield to Chinley with its real-time soundscape celebrating the Hope Valley train line. Each stop is represented by a combination of improvised music, field recordings and oral history clips from people who have lived and worked along the line.
Journey time: approx. 41 mins
The Quadraphonic (4 speakers) installation includes looped acoustic guitar and piano mixed with sounds and voices ranging from a football crowd to birds and rivers, a train driver, farmers and commuters.
Polyhymns are a Psychedelic folk and electronic duo from Sheffield. They have collaborated with artists including Jah Wobble, Rob Gordon, Loraine James and Tunng, and have previously released records on Static Caravan and Do It Thissen Records. The band draws inspiration from the landscape of Sheffield and its surrounding countryside.

EXHIBITION
Photographer Tracey Welch and photomontage artist Brett Evans Biedscheid share their unique vision of Britain’s historic waterways. The work will be displayed at multiple locations – in the Arundel Room at Millennium Gallery as well as in the Victoria Junction Cafe and the windows of Unit 14 along Victoria Quay*.
The exhibition features artworks shortlisted for both Shot Up North and Portrait of Britain.

Details
Renowned sound recordists Chris Watson and Izabela Dłużyk have created a new work based on field recordings made at Puszcza Białowieska, Europe’s last remaining primaeval forest, on the border between Poland and Belarus. In recent years the forest has become a contentious place, the natural sounds of Puszcza Białowieska have taken on more shadowy layers of meaning.
The multi-channel sound performance and installation will be presented in near darkness.

Sonido Polifonico presents an evening of audio-visual delights in a Tudor House in association with Sensoria.
Ho Tram Anh
Ho Tram Anh is an independent musician/songwriter based in Hanoi and is a member of several projects.
Her works explore a range of acoustic and electronic music, including lyrically oriented piano pieces with dark, pensive themes as a result of her classical training background.
She recently has taken a more experimental direction, exploring spatial, dreamy sounds and electronic/atmospheric elements.
Tram Anh has also collaborated with various other artists in ambient/experimental projects, most notably with Nhung Nguyen (Sound Awakener) as a duo titled “Oblivia”.
Her compositions are trademarked by key-shifting melodies and spatial, atmospheric production with an influence from ambient and classical music/
Think Exotic Dream Pop yet Expect the Unexpected.
Tram Anh’s debut solo album “The Poetry of Streetlights” was released in September 2022.

Gazelle Twin is Elizabeth Bernholz – composer, producer, singer and visual artist.
In 2009 Bernholz created this “transformative” performance persona to encompass; composition, studio albums, soundtracks, art installations and live performance, intended to openly address a deep-rooted aversion to traditional and contemporary norms across the music industry, particularly for women.
Gazelle Twin will present a haunting performance of her recent album Black Dog – a plunge into darkness rooted in the theatrics of the séance and the phenomena of ghosts. From recurring dreams to childhood fears and memories, she transforms personal experiences into songs that will resonate with her audience in this intense live performance.

Experimental folk duo Burd Ellen return to Bishops House with a new, live audio-visual work, exclusive to this Sensoria programme.

MacGillivray
MacGillivray is a poet and musician. Her music has appeared on BBC Radio 3 Late Junction and had coverage in the Wire Music Magazine, the Quietus and the Guardian for film soundtracks ‘The Whalebone Box’, ‘Swandown’ (Channel 4/Britdoc, 2012) and ‘By Our Selves’ (in which she appeared opposite Toby Jones) all by British director Andrew Kötting. She has performed internationally with The Fall, Arlo Guthrie, Arthur Brown, Shirley Collins, Michael Moorcock, Vic Godard, Toby Jones, Alan Moore, Jem Finer (The Pogues), Current 93, Gallon Drunk, Iain Sinclair, Trembling Bells, The Incredible String Band, Thurston Moore, and Band of Susans. She was nominated as a PRS/Help Musicians Scottish Performer of the Year in 2017 and received a Paul Hamlyn Composer Award in 2020.
