Seeing Nordic Giants live has been described as akin to a religious experience: the multi-screen visuals, powerful strobes and exquisitely timed accompaniment create a whole that is far greater than the sum of its parts.
Following on from the success of their debut album – ‘A Sèance of Dark Delusions’ and their documentary/soundtrack project – ‘Amplify Human Vibration’, the mysterious Nordic Giants emerge from hiding with their second studio album simply entitled – ‘Symbiosis’.
‘Symbiosis’ aims to pay homage to 10 years of Nordic Giants live performances & music and as those who have seen the live show will attest, it is a visceral experience that goes far beyond the normal descriptors!
The performance will include many songs from the new album, as well as a mix of older songs spanning the last 10 years. Expect brand new films as well as some older classics – to shock, awe and inspire!

Bleaklow is made of Claire Knox and Richard Knox (A-Sun Amissa / Shield Patterns etc.). The duo create distorted and billowing songs from fractured melodies and crumbling ambient drones.
Using minimal instrumentation, 4 track recorders and field recordings, Bleaklow’s sound is a hypnotic swoon, moving between fragile spacious notes and blown-out ethereal noise.
Access Information
Wheelchair access is via the accessible entrance off Shearwood Road to the left-hand side of the theatre. This access leads directly into the auditorium. There is an accessible toilet at this level to the right of the auditorium.
Access to the Drama Studio front entrance is from street level up a flight of eleven stone steps to the forecourt followed by an additional four steps to the front doors. There are handrails to both sides of the sets of steps and corduroy tactile paving to assist those with visual impairment.
There is limited on-street parking on Shearwood Road, though no disabled spaces. There is a Q-Parks car park on Durham Road that has some spaces for blue badge holders.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of their groundbreaking concert film Stop Making Sense, Talking Heads have released a newly restored 4K version of the film.
The film, conceptualised by director Jonathan Demme following a Talking Heads tour in 1983, showcased songs from all six of the band’s studio albums. Standout performances included the hit, ‘Burning Down The House’, and David Byrne’s iconic oversized suit during ‘Girlfriend Is Better’.

AngelHeaded Hipster tells the story of Marc Bolan’s rise to fame as the lead singer of the legendary T-Rex. In 2022 a group of artists and musicians came together to re-record a collection of Bolan’s classic tracks – including well-known classics like Get It On, 20th Century Boy and Cosmic Dancer.
The film features contributions from Nick Cave, David Bowie, U2, Elton John, Ringo Starr, Joan Jett, Father John Misty, Beth Orton, Billy Idol and many more, all on hand to celebrate Bolan’s work in interviews and/or performances. These combine with archival footage to trace his life story from his teenage years digging through Carnaby Street dustbins with Bowie to his tragic death at the age of 29.
The release is timed around the anniversary of Bolan’s death, which is marked each year with a number of events organised by the many, many fan groups. This film and event are all supported by the Bolan estate.

Sensoria presents John Robb in conversation – talking about his new best-selling book The Art Of Darkness – The History Of Goth.
Followed by Into The Trees night of dark 80s, post-punk, new wave and synth-pop sounds (separate tickets for each event).
In his book, the first comprehensive history of Goth Music and culture, John Robb explores the origins and legacy of this enduring scene, which has its roots in the post-punk era.
Drawing on his own experience as a musician and journalist, Robb covers the style, the music and the clubs that spawned the culture, alongside political and social conditions. He also reaches back further to key historic events and movements that frame the ideas of Goth, from the fall of Rome to Lord Byron and the Romantic poets, European folk tales, Gothic art and the occult.
Finally, he considers the current mainstream Goth of Instagram influencers, film, literature and music. The Art of Darkness features interviews with The Banshees, The Cure, The Damned, Nick Cave, Southern Death Cult, Einstürzende Neubauten, Bauhaus, Killing Joke, Throbbing Gristle, Trent Reznor, Johnny Marr and many more. It offers a first-hand account of being there at the legendary gigs and clubs that made the scene happen.

An interactive music performance featuring Dean Honer and Jarrod Gosling (I Monster), Richard Bradley (Pony Harvest) and London-based vintage synth-slinger, Neil Ridley.
Based on the Tristram Cary performance piece called Trios, QUADROS takes the concept into the 4th dimension, featuring 4 players playing 8 analogue synths over prepared rhythm tracks selected randomly.
In 1971, to promote the EMS range of synthesisers, the British composer Tristram Cary conceived TRIOS, a playfully experimental performance piece for two EMS VCS3 synthesizers and two pre-recorded vinyl discs which was first staged at that year’s Cheltenham Festival. Performers of TRIOS follow a set of instructions determined by the rolling of a dice, meaning that every performance is subject to a chance element on the night.
For QUADROS, musical backing will be played off specially-pressed vinyl discs and each musician will be chosen to play a particular synthesizer on every track through a process of random selection on the night, with the consequence that no two QUADROS performances will be the same. Hosted by master of ceremonies DIMITRI (former international synthesizer sensation and curator of the synthesizer collection at the Seoul Institute of Synthesis).
DJ Rosie also provides live mixing.

The Subharchord tells the story of an instrument developed in communist East Germany, an early sound generator far ahead of its time. Filmmaker Ina Pillat traces the long-forgotten Subharchord from her native East Germany to modern-day Norway where one of three surviving models is now found after being smuggled out in the late sixties. The story of the utopian instrument evokes both reflection and emotion, at a time when faith in the future has faded and the present is marked by disillusionment and uncertainty.
With a brief introduction by Rob Puricelli.
